INFOMEDIA – Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) on Monday temporarily suspended visitation to admitted patients receiving treatment at the hospital as part of measures to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the state and the country at large.

AKTH Chief Medical Director Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe announced this at a meeting with top management staff of the Hospital on Monday at the Board Room of the health institution.

A statement issued by AKTH Assistant Director, Information, Hauwa Muhammad Abdullahi and obtained by INFOMEDIA  said that during this period only a relation at once will be allowed to stay within the hospital premises in case of any need by the patient.

INFOMEDIA  recalled that Nigeria recorded the first death of COVID-19 on Monday with the death of Suleiman Achimugu at a Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) isolation centre at Gwagwalada in Abuja and 36 confirmed cases in the country.

Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe said patients coming to the hospital for outpatients services are also advised to desist from coming to the hospital with escort (s) in order to decongest the hospital as well as the service areas.

The CMD further appealled to the patients and clients to cooperate with the hospital and comply with the policies put in place.

Professor Sheshe described the situation as pandemic and all hands must be on deck to curtail it.
