BUK’s VC Charges 146 Inducted Doctors to Uphold Medical Ethics

 

INFOMEDIA – The Vice Chancellor Bayero University, Kano Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas  has charged the 146 newly-inducted medical and dental graduates from the University to always give commitment to saving lives and strive to strictly adhere to the medical ethics.

Prof Sagir gave the advice on Friday at the induction  ceremony for 2019/2020 session , held at the new campus of the university.

The  Vice Chancellor represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Sani Muhammad Gumel, also advised the inductees to cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit, saying it would help them to embrace critical questioning, innovation and continuous improvement.

INFOMEDIA reports that the new inductees include 127 from clinical sciences and 19 from dentistry  department.

“Be the change agent and join hands with other well meaning Nigerians in the health team to change the narrative about our education and heath sectors, especially at this time when Nigerians are battling the COVID-19 pandemic and Cholera outbreaks ,’’he added.

He also advise the inductees  to keep all the good practices, skills and principles learned from their lecturers during practical services in the communities.

The induction is coming as the National Assembly (NASS) and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III, urged resident doctors to be ready to dialogue and return to work in the interest of the people.

On his part the Chairman ,Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Kano State chapter, Dr Usman Ali said that the induction came with mixed feelings for the health sector and the federal government due to the ongoing NARD strike , saying the new inductees should not be discouraged.

He charged the newly inducted graduates to take their pledge to serve humanity seriously by working diligently and maintaining the confidentiality of their patients at all times.
