The Bayero University, Kano senate has reduced accommodation charges earlier increased for students.

A statement issued in the university’s weekly bulletin on Friday said the reduction is based on complaints by the BUK Students’ Union Government.

“The University Management requested the Chairman, Senate Committee on Fees and Charges to liaise with Dean, Students Affairs, the Director, Security and Director (DEAR) to interact with the Students’ Union Executives.

“Following the interaction and consultation with the Management, a downward review was agreed.” The statement said.

According to the statement, Nigerian postgraduate students will now pay N20,150 instead of the earlier announced N25, 150.

However, international postgraduate students will still pay the earlier announced N80,000 without reprieve.

The statement also announced a reduction of N2,000 only for undergraduate.

Accordingly undergraduate accommodation with beds and mattress now costs N18,090 while accommodation without beds costs N10,090.
