BUK VC Pays Familiarisation Visit to AIG,  Re-establish a Synergy to Strengthen Security at the University

INFOMEDIA – Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, the new elected vice chancellor, Bayero University, Kano paid a familiarisation visit to Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 1 at it’s Headquarters on BUK road.

The AIG Zone 1 of the Nigerian Police in charge of Kano and Jigawa States, Sadik Abubakar Bello made this known on Thursday, 10th September, 2020 when the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas paid a familiarization visit along with Principal Officers of the university.

The Assistant Inspector General pledged to support Bayero University, Kano on security matters in order to have safe and peaceful learning environment just as it has reiterated its determination to continue to partner with the University in many areas.

The AIG expressed delight over the visit and assured that the two institutions would continue to work together to protect the lives and property of students and members of the University community.

He further said the Police Force was extremely happy to send its officers to Bayero University for short and long term training so as to improve their capacity. He congratulated the new Vice Chancellor, saying that the relationship between the two institutions would be strengthened.

Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abbas said he came to introduce himself as the new Vice Chancellor and familiarize with the security agency in order to work together. He said it was the tradition of new Vice Chancellor to pay visits to partnering agencies, noting that Police Force is a critical stakeholder of the University.

“It is quite imperative to pay this visit and show my face with other principal officers because of the importance we attach to security agencies. We therefore seek your support in order to succeed,” the Vice Chancellor said.

Prof Abbas added that Bayero University is ready to assist Police officers with various short and long term trainings especially in the Departments of Sociology and Criminology in order to strengthen their capacity.

Highlight of the visit was presentation of souvenirs from both sides.
