Forgive me for What I have Done Wrongly – Outgoing Vice Chancellor.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello has appealed to the Council, Senate and members of Bayero University to forgive him for what he might have done wrongly, as it wasn’t intentional. He said that he has forgiven all those who in one way or another wronged him.

Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello remarked that he enjoyed tremendous support from the Council and members of the University community during his five year period as Vice Chancellor urging members to extend same support to Prof Sagir Abbas.

He said the guidance from the likes of Yayale Ahmed, Professor Gambari and members of the Council was unique. According to him, former Vice Chancellors return to continue serving the University, citing an instance during one Senate meeting in which five former Vice Chancellors were in attendance
“What made his difficult job easier were the commitment, zeal and passion for the University by the Senate, Management and staff of the University.

For the incoming Vice Chancellor, he said he was happier with Prof Sagir Abbas because the transition is unique in two ways. Firstly, it was the first time in the history of Bayero University that one Vice Chancellor is taking over from someone who taught him directly. Secondly, “he read Mathematics Education and I read Bsc Mathematics Education, so we have mathematics educators one after the other,” he said.

According to Prof Bello, he was extremely happy when he read the tenure report of Prof Sagir after serving as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics. “The way he led all the committees particularly Senate Business Committee, was impressive.” He used to go to faculties and departments to ensure that results were brought on time. Any department with problems, he usually went their physically to find out what was the problem and helped them solve it. We were able to get results within six weeks after examinations. Credit must go to Prof Abbas. He is up to the task to take this great University to greater heights, said Prof Bello.

I thank Council for Finding me Worthy of Appointment – New VC Tells Council.

The new Vice Chancellor, Prof Sagir Abbas said he thanked Allah for giving him the opportunity to serve the University and thanked the Council for finding him worthy of this appointment. “I need all the cooperation of the Council in order to deliver from the responsibilities that attached to the office.

“Sir, before I sit down, I would like to tell you that the outgoing Vice Chancellor was my teacher. He taught me mathematics and many courses in Sciences. I am proud to be associated with him,” said Prof Abbas.
