Kano state has unveiled two more testing centres to strengthen its fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The centers, by two foundations, were commissioned by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at Independence Road, Bompai, Kano on Thursday.
EHA Clinics of E-Health Africa, has its testing centre facility and sample collection centre with 300 capacity.
Also, International Foundation Against Infectious Diseases in Africa has its testing centre facility with the capacity of 90 samples per day.
In order to strengthen the institutional fight against the pandemic, governor Ganduje said, “Partnership with many more development partners and other stakeholders becomes extremely necessary in order to wipe out this pandemic.”
He also noted that the pandemic is getting to some communities, hence the state’s decision to change strategy.
He said, “We pursue the pandemic wherever it goes and we are doing our best to prevent it from penetrating other places.”
“We thank our Almighty God for providing these two Testing Centres I am about to commission and we now have 5 Testing Centres in the state.
“With this development, it also means that we must continue to have more and more sample collection centres across the state,” he said.

He added that he would make sure that the centres get atleast 300 samples daily from the sample centres in the state.
Ganduje expressed his hope that the state would continue to have low number of positive cases.
He said, “Our strategy of employing random sampling makes the collection to be more effective and efficient.”
The Kano State government has revealed that it will continue to partner with the organisations in other health matters, apart from COVID-19.
In their separate remarks, representatives of the organisations, that contributed the testing centres, assured the people of the continuous commitment to partnering with the state in the fight against the pandemic.
Deputy Director Operations of E-Health Africa, Mr Atif Fawaz, commended governor Ganduje for his unrelenting commitment in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
He said, “We believe you are doing your best in this response. That is why we decided to bring forth our contribution Your Excellency.”
Mr Barnand Ebruka of International Foundation Against Infectious Diseases in Africa, also commended the Kano State government’s response to the pandemic.
He said, “Our organisation has no other option than to support the good move and get more impressing result.”
