FOSOGED Trains 20 Young Girls On Digital Skills

No fewer than 20 young girls were equipped with basic digital skills and innovation with the view to enhance digital inclusion and self-reliance for sustainable development.

The 3 Months free digital incubation training was organized by the Foundation for Social Orientation and Gender Development (FOSOGED), in collaboration with Mediwat Computer Institute.

The Chairperson, FOSOGED, Haj. Mariya Durumin-Iya said the program was organized to train the participants on basic and advanced knowledge of computer usage and graphics design.

According to her, the organization conceived the idea in recognition of the fact that Information and Communication Technology is becoming the new and fastest avenue for job creation.

Mrs. Durum-Iya was speaking at the graduation ceremony for the trainees which was held at Husnu Plaza, Sharada, on Saturday.

She further added that “The training was first of its kind as part of the organization’s effort through the auspices of its Education and Digital Literacy Cluster to bridge the gender divide in the tech ecosystem in Kano state and to empower young girls to be self-reliant and employable”.

“The program targeted young girls who are interested in acquiring digital skills that can make them become financially independent and solve problems in their immediate communities”.

The Chairperson called on other organizations who shared same vision as FOSOGED to emulate the feet by empowering young girls in their own capacities for economic inclusion.

She emphasized on the dire need to support the organization for the continuation of the programs of same nature for sustainability.

Nusaiba Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of the participants applauded the organization for organizing the training.

She said the training availed them with an opportunity to learn the basic rudiments of computing and graphics design and promised to use the knowledge acquired judiciously and extend the same gesture to their immediate communities.
