IPPIS: Bayero University Reinstates Sacked Contract Lecturers
INFOMEDIA – Bayero University has recalled lecturers on contract terminated due to new payment system of the federal government, Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) that did not accommodate them.
INFOMEDIA reports that the contract lecturers’ appointment was terminated on June 10, in line with the federal government directive to enrol staff on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) which does not accommodate contract staff.
Speaking to INFOMEDIA on Tuesday one of the affected contract lecturers’, Dr Sai’du Ahmad Dukawa said that he has been recalled and reinstated by the University.

He explained that the university recalled him on Monday and withdrew the initial letter issued him terminating his contract, noting that they were informed that the federal government has expressed readiness to continue paying their salaries.
‘’ Yes, I was issued a letter yesterday recalling me by the University. It said the federal government has improved the payment system and we are included,’’ said Dr. Dukawa.
‘’With this, I’ve been given another two-year contract with the terms and conditions.’
Bayero University Kano Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello has on Tuesday night, confirmed to news men that all the affected contract lecturers have been recalled.
He noted that the federal government new salary system did not initially accommodate contract staff and the University cannot afford the payment of their salaries.
The Vice-Chancellor said,‘’ You see the new pay system, Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) has been adjusted to accommodate them as the federal government included the contract staff salaries, so we have to reinstate them.’’
