Kano Records 95 VVF Cases in 2 Months in 2021- Dr Amiru Yola
INFOMEDIA – Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano has record 95 case of patients suffering from Vasico Vagina Fistula popularly know as VVF in February and March.
A Medical fistula surgical Doctor, Assign to Lauren fistula center at the Hospital Dr Amiru imam Yola disclose this during an interview on VVF statistic in the State.
Dr Amiru also said as of February 2021 the report case is 53 while in March 42,in natural data survival of VVF yearly in Kano in 2019 over 900 is reported ,in which 400 were repaired and the rest were treated to other side,while in 2021 due to covid19 pandemic we don’t have such statistic

However,the VVF ward capacity beds are 14,we do our clinic every week,and after the patients undergo their VVF surgery we took them to VVF hostel at kwalli, although our staff are dearth.
Dr Amiru Added that, on his research the Aged risks of VVF in less than 18 years are 15 % while above 18 years are 85%. Although their are many ways of contacting VVF but Prolong structured labour is the major cause .
Dr Amiru lament that the rural area are less in terms of the statistic while Kano Municipal,Dala and Nassarawa local Government Area are the most highest rate record of VVF survival patients in the State,as northern part of the country is till leading.
The Government have to make a specific budget on VVF survival patients in the State,more Awareness , englightment and Advocacy will be a way of curbing the menace in the State.
