By Musa Abdullahi Sufi

INFOMEDIA  – The recent death of the Kano State Health Educator/Secretary of the Risk Communication Sub Committee on COVID-19, Mr. Auwalu Abdu Fagge, came as a shocker not only to the family and health Community, but to the State and Nigeria’s Health sector in general.

His hard work, commitment result oriented and Community driven/grassroot based activities to mention a few are undisputable especially in terms of making a difference.

Knowing Alhaji Auwalu for about 15 years I can confirm he is very religious, honest, patient, supportive, simple, mentor and an excellent social individual behaviour who is a rare change maker.

He was an exemplary advocate who respects everyone regardless of their cadre, gender, religion or cultural inclination. He doesn’t complain and every time he is calling tension.

His work in the Ministry of health and State Primary Healthcare Management Board (SPHCMB) impacted so much on the people especially towards understanding and accessing health value and improve healthcare services.

His fight against COVID-19 is remarkable. He worked tirelessly including heading and serving as Secretary in some committees. His timely and comprehensive reports of events and activities will be greatly missed.

I spoke to him a few weeks ago while planning to visit him today (Friday,) but the highest (Almighty God) who love him the most made it impossible.

My condolences to his family, commissioner Ministry of health and all his directors and program officers, the executive Secretary Primary Healthcare Management Board (SPHCMB), his directors and all officers, COVID-19 task force at all levels including risk communication, all health parastatals and agencies heads, directors and officers, NCDC and traditional institutions among others

My condolences also to development partners and CSOs team like WHO, UNICEF, TCI, CHAi, SFH, BMGF, Lafiya, Dangote Foundation, Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation (AAG-Foundation), Bua Foundation, Maries Stopes, AMMKaS, KansLam, CHR to mention a few.

Alhaji Auwalu died as a result of his efforts to save the lives of people and in the line of duty.

May his soul rest in Jannatul Firdausi, Ameen.
