Security Heightens Around Kano Metropolis as Tension Mounts over Planned Protest
INFOMEDIA – Kano residents on Wednesday woke up to seeing security agents around the popular ‘’Gadar Lado’’ on Kano-Zaria road by Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).
A resident who spoke to News men and crave anonymity said the Police, Civil Defence, FRSC and KAROTA personnel took position in the area as early as 6.30 am.
‘’We are scared because we don’t know the reasons behind this unusual presence of security personnel. Initially, we thought they were after those operating illegal motor park but later, we realised that their mission has nothing to do with that,’’ said Kabiru.
INFOMEDIA observed that the security agents took position around various axis of the roundabout blocking outbound road to Zaria and mounting check on the road.

Confirming the development, Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano Command, ASC, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi told News men that it is a joint operation of security agents based on intelligence reports that some group were trying to carry out a protest at the area.
‘’We were informed that a group are trying to conduct a protest in the area and we need to beef up security so that there would be no break down of law and order. Safety of lives and property is our responsibility, ‘’said the NSCDC Spokesman.
It could be recalled that Trade Union Congress and other Civil Society Organisations have expressed planned to embark on a nationwide protest over what they termed lukewarm attitude of the President to alleged corruption in EFCC, NDDC and NSITF among others.
