SSANU-BUK Elects New Excos
INFOMEDIA – The Senior Staff Association on Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Bayero University, Kano Chapter, elected new executives to continue to pilot the affairs of the union.
At a Quadrennial Congress meeting held at Mahmud Tukur Theatre, Comrade Haruna Aliyu and Comrade Mustapha Aminu were reelected as Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively unopposed.
In a keenly contested election of the post of secretary, the immediate past PRO, Nura Garba competed against the immediate past Trustee, Adamu Wangara, Barrister of the union, Bashir Saleh Abdu and Chairman of USSA, Abdulhamid Garba, in which Nura Garba emerged as the new Secretary with a landslide victory.
Sabo Balarabe of University Library recontested for the position of Treasurer he held four years ago and was reelected after defeating Musa Garba of Bursary Department, Auwalu Bala of Internal Audit and Shuaibu Ismail of University Clinic.

Another big contest was of the immediate past Secretary, Maruf Zakariya and the immediate past Ex-officio and past Chairman, Comrade Kabiru Baba. Maaruf Zakariya was elected new Ex-officio.
In a landslide victory, Uzairu Idris defeated Musa Ladan to be reelected Financial Secretary.
Four new members emerged as Adamu Garba of Information and Publication was elected new PRO, beating three other contestants, Kazim Tijani, Aminu Rajau and Ali Sani. Mahfuz Ibrahim beat Ali Magashi, Lawan Shehu Galadima and Nura Musa to emerge as new Assistant Secretary while Farida Kamba emerged Women Leader after beating Fatima Bashir of Sports Directorate and Margret of AKTH.
Adamu Getso of University Health Services is the new Trustee having defeated Engineer Safiyanu Fari of MSD and Nasir Ahalan of CIT.
The election was conducted under the supervision of two vice presidents of Northwest, Comrade Abdulmalik N.B Yunusa and Barrister Alhaji Abdulkadir, respectively.
The Vice President, Northeast, Barrister Alhaji had earlier presented fraternal greeting from the National President, Mohammed Haruna and urged members to elect the new executives peacefully without any rancour.
After the election, he sworn the new executives and gave them certificates of return. He urged them to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
