Black Panther is a 2018 American
superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures , it is the eighteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Ryan Coogler , who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole , and stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa / Black Panther,
alongside Michael B. Jordan, Lupita
Nyong’o , Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman ,
Daniel Kaluuya , Letitia Wright , Winston
Duke, Angela Bassett , Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.

however Black Panther premiered in Los Angeles on January 29, 2018, and was released theatrically in the United States on February 16, 2018, in 2D, 3D , IMAX and other premium large formats. The film received praise for its screenplay, direction, performances, action, costume design,production merits, and soundtrack, though the CGI effects received some criticism.

Critics considered it one of the best films
set in the MCU and noted its cultural
significance. It has grossed over
$1.2 billion worldwide, making it the
highest-grossing film of 2018 , as well as
the third highest-grossing film ever in the United States and 10th highest-grossing film of all time . Its four-day opening weekend gross of $242.1 million and its three-day gross of $202 million in the United States were the second and fifth highest of all time respectively, and the biggest debut by an African-American director.  Moreover the film was made on a budget of $200-210 million.

As of April 6, 2018, Black Panther has
grossed $659.3 million in the United States and Canada, and $631.2 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of
$1.290 billion.  The $370.5 million
earned worldwide in its opening weekend was the 15th largest of all time. It is the highest-grossing solo superhero film, the third highest-grossing film of
the MCU after The Avengers and Age of
Ultron , and 10th highest of all
time . By its second weekend, the film earned $54.6 million globally from IMAX,
which was the fastest Marvel film to reach the $50 million mark. In its fourth weekend, the film surpassed $1 billion, becoming the fifth MCU film, sixteenth Walt Disney Studios film, and 33rd film overall to do so. In March 2018, five weeks after the film released, Deadline Hollywood estimated the net profit of the film would be $461 million, accounting for production budgets, P&A, talent participations and other costs, with box office grosses and ancillary revenues from home media. Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther is still making history nearly two months after it first opened in theaters. The latest accomplishment: The Disney and
Marvel superhero tentpole passed up James Cameron’s Titanic on Saturday to rank as the third top-grossing title of all time at the North American box office behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.7 million) and Avatar ($760.5 million), not adjusted for inflation.

Black Panther finished Friday with a domestic total of $659.3 million, just shy of the $659.5 million grossed by Titanic, which sailed into theaters in late 1997.
Globally, Black Panther has grossed $1.29
billion, ranking as the No. 10 title of all time. The film — unprecedented in being a big- budget studio tentpole featuring a virtually all-black cast — stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther alongside Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke,
Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis. The story, described as a tale of black power and black pride in addition to its superhero themes, follows T’Challa as he is sworn in as king of Wakanda, a cloaked, technologically
advanced nation in Africa that is home to the exotic metal vibranium, the source of Black Panther’s powers..
