Dr. Sufi Asks FG to Consider Conferring Merit Award on Positive Use of Social Media

INFOMEDIA – The Technical Advisor, Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation, Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi urges Nigerian Gov’t to consider confering a national honorary award on individuals who excelled in making good use of social media in the country.

Dr. Sufi made the call during a one day training which was organized by Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation themed; Smart and Influencing Social Media Posts for Sustainable Development.

During the event which held on Sunday at Tahir Guest Palace Kano, Sufi noted that confering National Merit Award to Nigerians who use social media in a positive way for national development will assist significantly in championing the course of sanitizing Nigeria’s digital spaces as well as productive use of the social networking sites for national development.

He also tasks the general public to contribute their part in ensuring a free flow of Information deviant from falsification and untrue statement. “The best way to use social media is to be somebody who love his country, people and immediate community by posting a content that will be of immense benefit to them and or something that you want them to copy either from you or from another person and lead by good example”.

He further charged the public to always think and weigh the consequences of sharing any content they come across on social media. This will go along way in quelling a lot of devastating circumstances caused by our action (s) on social media.

He added that verifying a content before publishing or sharing on social media become necessary as it will revert to protect or mar our reputation owing to the fact that our digital identity is a replica of our real life situations.
