Kano Consumer Protection Council Confiscates Fake Drugs Worth N300m

INFOMEDIA – The Kano State Consumer Protection Council on Thursday confiscated fake drugs worth over N300 million following raids on a warehouse and shops in the popular Sabon Gari market, Kano.
The acting Managing Director of the council, Baffa Dan’agundi, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Kano State Governor on Road and Traffic Agency also known as KAROTA, Nasiru Usman Naibawa, disclosed that the raid was carried out on Tuesday night following a tip-off.

“The information received from Kano State indigenes on counterfeit products, which are harmful to the wellbeing of Kano people. A court order was issued to search some shops and warehouse at the Abubakar Rimi Market, Sabon Gari.
“The operation was successful, as evidence (s) are provided and seen physically and were apprehended yesterday, March 16, 2021 around 9am.”
Dan’agundi, however, cautioned residents of the state to be watchful to avoid buying harmful products.
He said, “We are, however, warning Kano State residents to be vigilant, watchful and wise before buying products that are harmful to their health.”
Meanwhile, the council is working to prosecute the owners of the confiscated expired items.
