Members of the Bayero University community in all the campuses have observed total and full compliance to the stay-at-home order as directed by the Kano State Government.

Our correspondent who monitored the situation observed that houses, shops and all offices remained under lock and
key which indicated a total compliance.

The state government declared total lockdown on Thursday, 16th  April, 2020 The Coke village in which the community market operates, it was observed that only those selling essential
commodities opened their shops. It was also observed that the entrance gates of both the campuses have been closed for non-University staff and members of their family.

According to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, the shutting down of the gates became
imperative with a view to curtailing the spread of the  disease.

“We are law abiding community here, and we must strictly observe the lockdown order to help in containing
the spread of the pandemic, hence, our decision to stop all non-University staff from entering the campuses,” said
the Vice Chancellor.

He commended members of the university community for their understanding, explaining that the lockdown is for the benefit of all.
