BUK Students Protest Alleged Killing of Colleague by Phone Snatchers

INFOMEDIA – The students of Bayero University, Kano have on Monday organised a peaceful protest following the alleged killing of a student on the campus.

The peaceful demonstrators who were seen carrying placards, decried the nature of security architecture of the institution.

A level 300 student of the University, Mercy Ishaya Markus told INFOMEDIA that the security personnel of the University have no weapon, hence their presence would not deter perpetrators of evil.

When contacted, the acting President, Students’ Union Government, SUG, Senator Auwal Lawal Nadabo said that the peaceful protest was connected to the rumors being circulated that a BUK student was killed on campus.

Senator Nadabo explained: ” It was later rectified that the deceased was not a BUK Student”.

“The case is an open investigation, nobody has verified information on the incident. However, we learned that Rijiyar Zaki Police Division is handling the case, it has nothing to do with BUK.” Nadabo added.

On its part, the management of the University, in a statement released by its secretary, Information and Publication, Mr. Lamara Garba, has faulted the allegations trending on social media that a student of the University was found dead on the new campus.

Mr. Lamara said investigation has revealed that both the deceased who was identified as Adam Adamu Sanusi Shanono and the two arrested suspects were in no way connected to Bayero University, Kano.

The management of the University, therefore, cautioned members of the public to desist from spreading fake and unverifiable information in respect of the University.

Eyewitnesses who pleaded anonymity confirmed that the victim, Adam Adamu Sanusi Shanono, was stabbed to death near BUK’s mini market, Coke Village and his corpse was evacuated by the Police.
