The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has announced the shutting down of the Nnamdi Azikwe and Murtala Muhammed international airports in Abuja and Lagos respectively from international flights effective from Monday, March 23 at 2300Z to April 23 at 2300Z.

In a statement signed on Saturday by the Director-General/CEO of the NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, said the move became necessary in view of the increasing dangers their operations in the country pose as regards Coronavirus pandemic.

Recall that today, Saturday, the country has recorded another 10 new cases of Coronavirus infection, with three in Abuja and seven in Lagos State, bringing the number of the incidence to about 22.

Mr Nuhu, however, stated that emergency and essential flights are exempted from this restriction.

“Henceforth, all airports in Nigeria are closed to all incoming international flights with the exception of emergency and essential flights.

“Domestic flights will continue normal operations at all airports,” the statement added.
