The governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, has announced the payment of the new Federal Government approved minimum wage for civil servants in the state.
Ganduje on Wednesday, January 1, said the Kano state government will pay its workers N30,600 with effect from December 2019.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said the governor since the commencement of negotiation process between the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the FG had indicated his administration’s readiness to pay the restructured minimum wage.

Garba said with the governor’s declaration, workers in the state are smiling home with their new pay from their respective banks.
He also said that the following agreement between the state government and the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JNC), arrears of April – November 2019 would be paid in instalments over time.
Garba further appealed to all Kano state civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by dedicating themselves to their duties so as to improve service delivery.
He also called on workers, particularly those in the revenue-generating agencies to make an extra effort by ensuring that taxable individuals and corporate entities always pay their dues.
According to Garba, such efforts help the government continue its laudable development programmes for the teeming populace.
