Suspected terrorists, often referred to as bandits, attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train, forcing the train to stop halfway.

DAILY NIGERIAN found that the bandits attacked the train for the first time on Wednesday evening and successfully brought it to a stop after struggling to move 7 km after the attack.

The bandits, according to sources, return again Thursday morning, and planted an explosive device on the railroad tracks.

An early morning train passenger Shehu Sani, a senator who represented Kaduna Central at the 8th National Assembly, confirmed the incident via his Facebook account.

The senator wrote: “Last night bandits attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train. They planted an explosive which damaged the tracks and shattered the windshield of the train engine. They also opened fire, targeting the driver and the tank.

It happened between Dutse and Rijana stations. The Driver had trouble getting to Kaduna Rigasa station.atrk

“This morning I was on board when our train crashed into another ramp damaged by an explosive. The train almost skidded, then we miraculously escaped.

All rail operations from Kaduna Abuja must be suspended for today until this issue is resolved.
