Kano Lawmaker Empowers 1,000 Youths on GSM Repair, Software Development

INFOMEDIA – The Member representing Nasarawa Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives, Nassir Ali Ahmed, has empowered no fewer than 1,000 youths on GSM repair, and maintenance, together with software and hardware development.

The training, sponsored by the lawmaker in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB), focused more on practical skills acquisition, with a view to developing the beneficiaries capacity prior to their graduation and becoming self-reliant.

Ahmed, a third-time member at the Green Chamber, said organizing the empowerment programme could not have come at a better time, considering the number of unemployed youths in the country.

He was speaking during a graduation ceremony held for the trainees at Bristol Palace Hotel in Kano.

On his part, Emir of Kano, who was represented by the Fagacin Kano, Alhaji Habibu Bello, urged the beneficiaries to utilize the opportunity the training programme afforded them to become self-reliant and also job-providers.

He said: “This great opportunity you have gotten, automatically will prevent you from pursuing white-collar or government jobs, which are even unavailable.”

Minister of State for Petroleum, Timpre Sylva, who participated in the send-forth event virtually, urged the graduands to work hard and put the skills they have acquired into practice, for the benefit of their society.

Mr. Nyoki Ita, who represented the Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, said the training programme will be sustained as an additional 400 youths will also be trained on the same outlined vocational skills, urging the beneficiaries to utilize the golden opportunity availed them by the Kano State-born legislator.

One of the beneficiaries, Ahmed Zango, who spoke during the event thanked Hon. Ahmed, NCDMB and the Director General of Tarayya Campaign Organization, Rabiu Baba Nabegu, for giving them the opportunity to participate in the training.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the opening of a new ‘GSM Repair Market’ at Hadeija Road in Kano.
