The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on Thursday, 9th April, 2020 donated hand sanitizers and other sanitary items to Bayero University Radio FM aimed at taking precautionary measures against the spread of coronavirus which has ravaged the entire world.

The Zonal Director of NBC, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, who presented the items to the Vice Chancellor, said it was part of the NBC’s goodwill gestures to help staff and visitors to sanitize their hands against the spread of covid-19.

He said BUK FM was among the Campus Radio stations in Nigeria producing programmes that are educating people to take proactive measures against the spread of the virus, saying that it would significantly help the staff and visitors coming to the station.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, who received the items, said the University was highly appreciative to the gesture aimed at containing the spread of the virus, saying that  BUK FM was playing a key role in enlightening the general public in taking the much needed precautionary measures against the ravaging disease.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the University’s Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry is currently working to produce thousands of hand sanitizers which would be donated to the members of the University Community and the state government for distribution to the general public.

In his remark, the Director of BUK Radio FM, Dr. Sulaiman Yar’adua, expressed happiness over the donation and said the items would be utilized judiciously.

The Vice Chancellor received the donation of the items a long with the Registrar, Fatima Binta Mohammed and Bursar, Dr. Sulaiman Bello.

  1. Am so impressed that BUK FM is one among the best that enlighten the community about how to take measures against the pandemic, I salute the director for his efforts along with the staff, may their good work continue to multiply by God grace.
