New Vice Chancellor Seeks BUK Support and Prayers

The new Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has sought the support and prayers from members of the University Community and other concerned stakeholders to succeed in office.

The Vice Chancellor, who spoke shortly after his inauguration by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, said all members of the University Community should join hands together t support his administration in order to move the BUK Forward.

He expressed appreciation to all staff that voted for him during the Congregation Parley, which took place on Wednesday, 5th August, 2020 in which he polled 1026 votes to get community acceptability.

Recall that on Saturday, 8th August, 2020, the new Vice Chancellor received his appointment letter from the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari and Chairman of Council, Prof Gambari.

The new Vice Chancellor said he thanked Allah for giving him the opportunity to serve the University and thanked the Council for finding him worthy of this appointment. “I need all the cooperation of the Council in order to deliver from the responsibilities that attached to the office.
“Sir, before I sit down, I would like to tell you that the outgoing Vice Chancellor was my teacher. He taught me mathematics and many courses in Sciences. I am proud to be associated with him,” said Prof Abbas.

Prof Abbas, who is the 11th Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano said welfare of staff and students would be one of his utmost priorities, assuring that he would work in tandem with the staff and students unions in the University.

The Pro-Chancellor, Professor Gambari congratulated the new Vice Chancellor and urged him to work assiduously to maintain the University’s tradition of pursuing excellence in all ramifications.

He further commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello for improving the quality standards of the University’s research, teaching and community services.
