The HeartUmight Campaign against ethnic based hate speech and violent extremism have been nominated for the first Security and Emergency Management Award (SEAMA) in Nigeria.

The Emergency Digest, a publication of an award-winning Image Merchants Promotion Limited in conjunction with the Centre for Crisis
Communication (CCC) is organizing the award which is instituted to recognize the immeasurable and invaluable contributions of
individuals, groups and relevant stakeholders to
peace development, security and emergency management in Nigeria.

The award will recognize outstanding gallantry, rescue efforts, safety measures, teamwork and
immense contributions to safety in the country.

HeartUmight– The search for common humanity – is a students based
initiative in Bayero University Kano – Nigeria committed to creating awareness and sensitization to online community
users from the grassroots while providing counter narrative on ethnic based hate speech.

It was inspired by the discovery that ethnic based hate
speech is divisive and inimical to our collective growth and development as a Nation, they are
creating Peace Club groups at different levels of social institutions, inciting media activists, civil society organizations, non-governmental and
government agencies who will continually champion the cause of curbing ethnic based hate speech both off and online.

Early in the year, one of the initiatives Peace Club Ambassador averted what would have caused a major crisis in the North by quickly
cleaning of a very derogatory and incitement post written inside a restroom of one of Nigeria’s foremost
University in the North.

HeartUmight participated in the Spring 2019 Facebook Global Digital challenge and got a honorable mention from
facebook.
