Kano State House of Assembly has passed the Kano State Development Support (Establishment) Board into law.

 

Speaker Abdulazeez Garba Gafasa disclosed this shortly after the lawmakers discussed the bill in a Committee of the Whole House (secret sitting) at the Chamber on Wednesday.

 

Hon. Gafasa revealed that the legislators had scrutinised the clauses from beginning to end, adding that the lawmakers were all satisfied with the amendment.

 

He then directed the House Clerk, Malam Abdullahi Alfa Hausawa to move for third reading which he did.

Shedding more light on the law, Majority Leader, Kabiru Hassan Dashi said the Board is to ensure financing and development of basic, secondary and tertiary institutions owned by the State Government, adding that the source of the money is from generated revenue.

Meanwhile, the House has adopted a motion calling on the State Government to construct a road from Unguwar Mani to Rahugi to Tudu Tago to Kwarin Isau in Karaye Constituency.

 

The motion was sponsored by Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi Dutsin Amare (Karaye).

In a related development, Governor Ganduje has submitted the name of Baba Bashir UbaDala for confirmation as Full Time Commissioner, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

 

This was contained in a letter sent to the House by the Governor on Monday which was read before members by Speaker Gafasa.

 

Also, the State Assembly has inaugurated four new members who were re-elected after different court judgements after their re-run elections.

Presiding over the inauguration at the House Chamber Tuesday, Speaker Gafasa prayed for their success as lawmakers.

 

Earlier, House Director Legal, Ahmad Zahraddeen who sworn them in urged them to respect the rules and regulations of the House.

 

The members inaugurated were Kabiru Yusuf Ismaila (APC- Madobi), Muhammad Uba Gurjiya (APC- Bunkure), Tasiu Ibrahim Zabainawa (APC-Minjibir) and Magaji Dahiru Zerawa (APC-Rogo)

 

Meanwhile, member representing Sumaila Constituency, Hon. Zubairu Hamza Massu has tabled a motion calling for the reconstruction of Kanawa to Rimi to Magami road in the area.

Hon. Massu said the road was started years back, stressing that completion of the project would boost socio-economic activities in the constituency.

 

The motion was adopted by the lawmakers.
