The newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof Malah Daura has officially taken over the leadership of the Yobe State University (YOSU). Daura was appointed by governor Mai Mala Buni as the fourth VC of the university on the 1st January 2020.

He replaced Prof. Yakubu Mukhtar following the expiration of his tenure of office  today, Thursday 13 February 2020. In his speech the VC said he would use his previous experiences to take the university to greater height.

“As a  new person I will study what is contained in the hand over notes and chart my own way of improving the system” he said.

I rose through the ranks from HOD, DVC, and particularly former Vice chancellor of Unimaid for five years, I will do my possible best to improve both administrative and academic systems of the institution “ he added

He noted that every university has its peculiar challenges that require specific effort to address them. He charged the YOSU staff to deploy their energy in developing workable strategies that would bring progress to the university. Daura assured that he would never be a party to bring successes recorded by his predecessor down.

Earlier the former Vice chancellor Prof Yakubu Mukhtar welcomed the new vice chancellor. Mukhtar highlighted some of the achievements he recorded notable among which was the establishment of faculty of medical sciences, other department and faculties, various staff trainings and capacity building at home and abroad.

The Chairman Governing Council of the university Barr. Ahmed Mustapha Goniri, thanked the former VC and charged the new one to build on the performance of his predecessor.
