GAME OF THRONES season eight is just around the corner, and one fan may have spotted a vital clue which could suggest Daenerys Targaryen won’t be crowned Queen of Westeros when the series concludes.

Express UK Unveil That The very final season of Game of Throneswill be airing later this year on HBO.

In April of this year, fans will finally get the answers they’ve been seeking since the show began back in 2011.

The battle for the Iron Throne will hopefully come to an end. The Night King will be defeated (probably), and his mysterious identity will be revealed (also probably).

Fans will be looking forward to finding out how it all ends, and many of them are hard at work coming up with their own theories on how the show will conclude.

One fan has been doing something which many others have also been doing: rewatching the series from the very beginning.

Some people do this because they love the show, others are doing it so that they can glean something, a hint, which could point to how the show will end.

One such fan has spotted something rather interesting to do with who could end up sitting on the Iron Throne, or, to be more precise, who won’t be sitting on it.

Laser_circus on Reddit wrote: “Way back when Tywin and Joffrey [Baratheon] were alive, this quote always stuck out to me and has served as an indicator to see who would be the true king in the end.”

“Tywin said to Joffrey: ‘Any man who must say “I am the king” is no true king.’

“And by extension, I believe that would also pertain to women who have said they are the queen ruler of the seven kingdoms.

“I think anyone who made that mistake would spell their failure to actually rule in the end or even survive it.

“It didn’t work well for anyone that said it before. The Baratheon brothers, Joffrey, and etc. have also had to say they were kings ended up dead.

“So neither Cersei, Daenerys nor Jon will sit on that throne in the end because they have all had to make their position as rightful ruler known to others.

“I realised that when Jon wanted to leave Dragonstone and stated that he is the king to Daenerys.”

If this theory turns out to be correct, it would mean that three of the leading contenders for the Iron Throne have to be ruled out since they’ve all claimed to be the rightful ruler.

Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: What will happen to Jon Snow? (Image: HBO)

Many people might have forgotten the moment Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) stated he was a king, yet it came in a tense scene when he, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and their council came up with the plan to get a White Walker back to King’s Landing to show Cersei Lannister (Lena Heady).

“With respect, your Grace, I don’t need your permission. I am a king,” Jon told Daenerys.

With that one line, Jon may have just ruined all chances for him to sit on the Iron Throne.

This will disappoint many Game of Thrones fans who want to see Jon on the Iron Throne, yet this is just a theory, and things could turn out very differently.

Game of Thrones season 8 will return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019. Seasons 1-7 are currently streaming on NOW TV.
