Bollywood life come up with report unveiled that recently ran a poll on BollywoodLife asking our readers to pick the best movie of the first half of 2018. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Padmaavat, won with only Sanju giving it a minimal competition. The controversial movie featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor was loved by all. But the latest buzz about the movie in the town is that it almost did not star Deepika as the lead heroine. Turns out, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was offered the role before anyone else. The revelation was made by the former Miss World herself during the promotional spree for her latest film, Fanney Khan.

Aishwarya was talking to Spotboye, when she was asked about her reunion with SLB. The director and the actress had worked in movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Guzaarish, and Devdas. Not to forget, Sanjay’s initial plans to make Bajirao Mastani with Aish paired opposite Salman Khan, for which they famously have even shot a poster. But the plans did not come to fruition. “Bajirao Mastani also we were supposed to do together. He didn’t get the Bajirao for me. He didn’t get the Khilji for me; He wanted me to do Padmaavat, but could not get the Khilji for me, at the casting time. So, that’s how it didn’t happen. I would love to work together,” the actress revealed.

But the silver lining is that she is hopeful to work with Sanjay in the future. “The person he saw to play Khilji, with me playing Padmaavati, did not happen. So, at the end of the day, you need to see the casting. If the casting is not happening, then sometimes, it doesn’t come together. The intention is always there to work together, but it didn’t happen. We both loved working with each other, so let’s see, whenever it is meant to be,” the actress added.

Can you imagine Padmaavat with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing the lead? Wha-ow! BTW, at the time of filming Padmaavat (then titled Padmavati), rumours were rife that Aishwarya has been roped in for a special song in the film. Just like Priyanka Chopra featured in a song in Ram Leela. Though, at the end of the day, the said sequence with Aish only turned out to be a rumour. But now that we learn straight from the horse’s mouth, we have more the reason to wonder what would have Padmaavat been like with Aish!
