Recently in a now viral video released by BBC Africa, Dr. Boniface Igbenehue, a lecturer of the federal university of Lagos (UNILAG), former sub dean of faculty of Arts was caught on camera pants down with one the student aspirant of the university promising her admission into the school if she allows him to have carnal knowledge of her.

In the thirteen minutes video the associate professor and also a senior pastor of foursquare gospel church also talked about a “cold room” in UNILAG where sexual abusers like him takes student to molest them, he said and I quote “it is an industry well known among lecturers, in fact, the VC might even know about it, perhaps patronize”.
The university has since set up a committee to look into the matter and meanwhile, the pastor in question has been asked to step down from all ministerial assignments concerning his church.
Many have argued that it is way the so called university girls dressed indecently that seldom attracts this kind attention to them, but I don’t think the way an individual dress or behaves is enough reason for someone to be overcome with desires.
Many likes of Dr. Boniface are scattered across Nigerian universities, sexual assaults by lecturers on female students in Nigeria is a scourge that needs to be curb sooner than later, and the society have an important role to play in setting fire to the “cold rooms” and discouraging the establishment of newer ones
