Students of the Department of Mass Communication, are threatening to withdraw their support for Vice Presidential front runner, Rabi Isiaka Rabiu in the ongoing Students Union Government general elections at Bayero University Kano.

Rabi who is a student of the Department of Information and Media Studies is expected to poll votes by wide margin in her home Faculty of Communication.

However, students of Mass Communication are accusing the Department of not aligning with their candidate running for Faculty Senator, hence will not vote for Rabi who is politically known as Rabi’a in BUK community.

“I swear, I will no longer vote for Rabi, how can I vote for an IMS candidate, when IMS themselves are not supporting us.” Complained one of the voters as he tore Rabi’s hand bill into bits.

Some of the political heavey weights of the Department were seen holding protest talks with the President of Information and Media studies as he tries to douse the heating tension.

The contest for Faculty Senator is a firce battle between three students, one from Theatre and Performing Arts and two from Mass Communication.

Political “Jagabans” of the Department had thrown their weight behind one of the candidate popularly known as TJ and had expected IMS to support them in return for a vote from Rabi.

The situation has now been doused as there seem to be an amicable resolution in the political atmosphere as calm has began to return.
From observations, Rabi’a is polling an early lead in the Faculty of Communication.
